Italian Maritime Clusters meets Secretary-General of IMO

Naples (Italy), September 28th, 2018. A delegation of the Federazione del Mare – Italian Maritime Cluster led by President Mario Mattioli met today Kitack Lim, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (Institution of the United Nations dealing with the development of International maritime transport) on board of Nave Vespucci, on the occasion of the final day of the Naples Shipping Week, present the Italian Deputy Minister for Infrastructures and Transport Edoardo Rixi. Maritime activities annually produce goods and services valued at 33 billion euros (2% of GDP, 3.5% when considering private activities only), of which 6.2 billion exported, and purchases for 20 billion euros among the other branches of the Italian economy, providing employment to 480,000 workers. The president of the Federazione del Mare underlined the importance of maritime regulations being decided by IMO, the only Institution issuing standards valid world-wide, thus guaranteeing a fair competition in the internationally integrated maritime markets.
